SUFFOLK COUNTY — Walt Whitman, John Glenn and Bay Shore athletes led a week of playoff wins, county titles, and school record-breaking performances across Suffolk County.
Swimming Standouts
Walt Whitman senior Maya Chen broke a 15-year-old county record in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 54.23 seconds. "I've been working toward this my entire high school career," Chen said.
Basketball Dominance
John Glenn's varsity basketball team advanced to the county finals after a dramatic overtime victory against Commack. Junior point guard DeAndre Williams scored 34 points.
Track and Field Excellence
Bay Shore's relay team set a new school record in the 4x400 meter relay, qualifying for the state championships for the first time in 12 years.
